The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that food-at-home prices in August 2026 were unchanged from July on a seasonally adjusted basis, 0.0%, and 2.2% higher than a year earlier (CPI release of September 11, 2026).

Food at home: 0.0% month over month (seasonally adjusted), +2.2% year over year.
Food away from home: +0.3% month over month, +3.4% year over year.
The release doesn’t say which shelf moved, only that the index as a whole didn’t budge from July.

What it means at your table
You walk in after the “cooling” story. Dairy looks calm, produce is doing its own arithmetic, and the protein case doesn’t seem to have gotten the memo.
