Meal Plan Blues
Mealime will be discontinued on October 21, 2026, according to its own closing page (mealime.com/closing). Personal plans, favorites, and lists are removed when the app closes. The recipe catalog moves to Meals Hub inside Albertsons Companies’ store apps. Plenty of households already started a shared week — theme, vote, a board that’s mostly filled. That is Day 3’s news: the week is starting to show. One phone still owns the keepers. Name it where we can see.
## The details
Official facts only — mealime.com/closing — no rumors, no victory lap. When Mealime closes, personal plans, favorites, and lists are deleted. The catalog moves to Albertsons’ Meals Hub. The page does not describe a way to export your own favorites, plans, or lists.
A shared week on the wall is the right next move after saving keepers. Awareness Day 3 is what still breaks: one phone still owns the keepers, and at least one weeknight still isn’t named where the house can see. Theme → vote → approve can look done on paper while Thursday stares blank and someone still asks “what’s for dinner?” like nothing was decided. Protect the vote — put named dinners where everyone can see them before Oct 21 becomes dinner theater.
## What it means at your table
Picture the kitchen. Dinner Plan board mostly filled — Mon, Tue, Wed already named. One blank weeknight still staring back. Phone unlocked to keepers nobody else can see. Sticky that says “name it where we can see.” Someone asks what’s for dinner like the vote never happened — because, for that blank night, it didn’t land where the house can see.
Tip culture will try to fix this with another recipe dump. Cute. Meanwhile the keepers never left one person’s phone, so the blank night never got a name out loud. Oct 21 then becomes “what’s for dinner?” theater with a mostly-filled board and one tired adult inventing the missing night from a private roll.
## This week’s move
One time-bound practice for Awareness Day 3 — protect the vote / name it where we can see:
After theme → household vote → approve, write the remaining blank weeknight on the list where the house can see it. Say that dinner out loud.
Move keepers off one phone onto the shared board so named dinners are visible — not only in one camera roll. Pick whatever the house already agreed to eat for that blank night (skillet, sheet-pan, one-pot — match the vote). One named dinner that matched the vote beats Oct 21 blank-fridge panic. Name dinners out loud so Oct 21 isn’t “what’s for dinner?” theater.
Put the named week where everyone can see it before the old planner goes quiet.
Foodoodle is a free household meal planner built for that shared week — theme, vote, approve, aisle-grouped list. Free during beta, no card, browser first. It is a helper, not a guarantee. It is **not** an official Mealime replacement and cannot import Mealime data. It will not cook for you or invent a savings percent. Try it at https://foodoodle.com when the house is ready to name the week together.
